Professional Counselling Association
of the ACT and NSW Inc

The PCA are here to help provide you with supervision but individuals branches may not meet all your needs. You have a choice to attend other branches to obtain your requirements, or attend private or peer group supervision outside of the branch meetings. Private one-on-one supervision is also recommended by the ACA with your chosen supervisor.

Group supervision is facilitated by a registered clinical supervisor approved by the ACA. The format of group supervision may involve case studies, role play or other format and aims to enhance the awareness and skill of the counsellor for professional practice. It is important in group supervision that all members actively participate.

Peer supervision does not require an approved supervisor  (only two hours per membership year counts towards required supervision hours).  It is a less formal format than group supervision and involves peers/colleagues meeting together to discuss client/counsellor dynamics or case issues.

Please note that it is not the responsibility of the association to meet all YOUR supervision needs. The ACA strongly encourages members to maintain individual supervision in conjunction with group and peer supervision to meet professional requirements by our professional body the ACA.
