Presentation
Brett McGrath
Family Law
Brett McGrath is a Senior Associate and highly sought-after Family Law solicitor with Gadens, Sydney. He is also a Councillor with the Law Society of New South Wales. In 2018 he won the Macarthur Regional Volunteer of the year for his tireless work advocating for increased community access to the justice system and more court facilities in Macarthur. Brett has advocated for Legal Aid, community legal centres and the restoration/upgrade of local court houses, and he was also involved in securing Campbelltown Local Court as a location in the roll-out of therapy dogs for court. Currently Brett is advocating with the Law Society of NSW for a Justice Precinct in SW Sydney.

Brett has a unique approach in that he appreciates that every client and their circumstances are different. Navigating the legal system is a daunting prospect for most people, so by focusing on understanding his client's individual needs, he finds he is better able to advise them on the legal avenues available, with a focus on achieving the best outcome without enduring unnecessary costs or delay.
Brett also regularly appears as an advocate for his clients in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia and Family Court of Australia and is skilled at negotiating amicable property and parenting settlements through formal negotiation or alternative dispute resolution, as well as providing advice in relation to Financial Agreements before, during or after a marriage, or cohabitation in de facto relationships.
Brett is also very keen to contribute to the development of the legal profession and business sectors and has done so through his work as a Councillor for the Law Society of New South Wales, the Macarthur Law Society (President), the Greater Narellan Business Chamber (President and Vice President), Western Sydney University (Lecturer) as well as the NSW Business Chamber.
Brett is well versed in all matters Family Law and Estate Planning and will talk about some of his experiences as well as how the counselling profession has helped him in his work. He will also be open to questions from our members on all things Family Law and Counselling.
