Perfectionism and Counselling
David is a Clinical Counsellor and runs a family practice in Peakhurst. He also conducts a number of presentations designed for the counselling industry.
In clinical work counsellors will work with people who are perfectionists (indeed, some counsellors are perfectionists themselves) and can get a little lost in dealing with the issues they present. These clients can be difficult to understand and therefore hard work. This presentation helps counsellors to understand what is and how to work with perfectionism in a constructive way. We look at the difference between adaptive and maladaptive perfections, its origins, some psychological implications, self-harm, narcissism and treatment.
